This position is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance programs, which will complement the business’ development of a robust and high functioning safety culture. Coordinates hazard management issues in order to mitigate potential EHS issues. Assists in developing and implementing appropriate risk mitigation. Coordinates incident management, investigation and tracking systems and driving continuous improvement of the Environmental, Health and Safety programs at CSL Plasma through partnerships with functional areas across the business. While maintaining streamlined and efficient system of customer service and technical expertise to all sites, this role will maximize the use of technology and other innovations in the administration of environmental, health, and safety programs.
1 Provides EHS guidance to the business and regulatory support to comply with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other EHS regulations. Administer, oversee and make program and system recommendations for work practices and environmental conditions to effectively minimize financial losses due to accidents, illnesses and environmental incidents.
2 Assists in developing, managing and implementing compliant risk mitigation and HSE programs, policies and procedures to comply with risk assessments, audits and inspections.
3 Primary system administrator for the CSL Plasma incident management system. Actively assists users with incident and accident reporting and incident management. Responsible for the quality and accuracy of records within the system.
4 Monitor the worker compensation program to ensure reduction in lost time, medical treatment and first aid incident, including appropriate services provided by the Claims Carrier. Provides real-time guidance to management as needed.
5 Partners with management to respond to safety non-compliances and site self-inspections and develop and implement action plans to address safety risks and reduce safety matters and hazards.
6 Assists management with the investigation, reporting and corrective action for all incidents involving CSL Plasma personnel, donors, visitors and contractors. Educate and coach management on investigation techniques and proper reporting practices.
7 Ensures that managers and supervisors are applying the CSL Plasma Workers’ Compensation policy consistently and properly by providing proactive training and guidance. Ensures compliance with return-to-work and worker accommodations policies.
8 Primary system administrator for security software and update of security cards as needed. Create new employee security badges, resolve employee badge issues including replacing, updating photo, and disposing of terminated employee security cards properly.
9 Assists with electronic documentation and recordkeeping to ensure proper documents are available at all times. Comply with and submit OSHA reports as directed. Maintain and monitor accident-tracking database to analyze trends.
10 Assist in the development, oversight and implementation of EHS compliance related training programs.
11 Participate in ongoing development training to remain current on EHS trends and standards relevant to the business.
12 Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable federal, state and local EHS related laws.
13 Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs.
Bachelor’s Degree required
Degree in environmental, safety, health programs or related science field preferred
Minimum of 2-5 years’ relevant experience in the safety field and/or compliance assurance function required
Working knowledge of Workers Compensation processes, National Fire Protection Association standards (NFPA), OSHA and EPA regulations (at both the state and federal levels)
Understand regulatory standards, various local, state and federal laws that apply to the business and where to find information on standards and interpretations
Performing incident investigations, developing short and long-term corrective actions, and reporting incidents for historical purposes as well as compliance
Providing effective EHS guidance to remote locations
Strong attention to details, accuracy of work and timelines required
Excellent critical reasoning, decision-making, and problem solving skills to analyze situations, determine risks, find solutions to prevent future issues and resolve recurring defects
Strong organizational skills and attention to details to handle multiple tasks, short deadlines, frequent interruptions, and shifting priorities in support of changing company objectives
